I wonder if Ed maybe intended The Duel he had set up for this game to actually happen in the last game. Or maybe he had intended Terminator to return. He fit so great last time, it really felt like he could be brought in-universe. Maybe this was their intent and Ed had a second duel like Homelander vs. Butcher in Terminator vs. T1000 planned for the second season.
While Conan's cool, the pick does seem kind of out there. Disagree about the animations, looks fine to me. Conan's not a ninja. Again, this is why it's really a double-edged sword npi to have these guest characters in a fighting game.
Notwithstanding, MK1 is just a very, very poor fighting game, and given that all principle development has already been abandoned, anything left to add to the product with be thrown together like it's being done at 3pm on a Friday before a long weekend. Sad, too, given that Conan and T-1000 are iconic 80s/90s characters... Just not characters for a game as abjectly and irrevocably bad as MK1 is.
Even to this day the only game I feel that did it right in recent times was the Killer Instinct reboot, mainly with Tusk. Even though it's not perfect, since the devs were constantly being rushed out the door by M$, there is still a far greater sense of fluidity and impact from most of his sword attacks than anything we've seen in NRS games. And considering that Tusk was always just a knockoff of Conan (even back in the arcade KI2) it's sad to see that the real Conan looks like the knockoff here.
I would hope that the final version of Conan fixes the animations to some extent, but let's be honest with ourselves; they've done this too many times already.
Popular guest characters attract new customers. The ones for this game? Uhhh... I don't know about that. I was only excited for Ghostface so far. I was curious how the others would play, but I wasn't excited for them. Also I was disappointed in Ghostface. I am a fan of T-1000 but don't expect to be blown away.
They just mish-mash too much stuff together into a game engine that sucks and is 90% asset flips. Monsters, weapons, robots... liquid metal?! There just isn't enough to work with to make all these different archetypes work together, and/or their design shortcomings to be hidden be good gameplay.
Conan may look ok, but in a terribly packaged gameplay that MK always has been ( since inception of MK4 ) , and gacha elements.
does anybody go back and play any MK game? no
does anybody bother to make MK mods? no
the only one worth playing are the current MUGEN / IKEMEN versions of MK collectively, the remixes. sadly MK devs do NOT know how to make a fighting game.
i mean who throws unplayable but -halfassed but near finished characters as assists ? you know how annoying that is? especially the interrupt bandwagon of BS? let alone no tag to the damn character?
i dont get what kind of stupid sytem they were coming up with. Legacy characters are halfassed as assists. great. unplayable. then why bother?
NRS? 2v2 kombat? without the annoying assists?. horrible layout. terrible gameplay. bad gameplay animations for nearly half of the roster , especially guest supermans. MK devs, what the hells going on?
dear Mortal Baffons, please fix the damn game, or just cancel this right away.
i dont see the point of this " fighting game" if you can call it that, being in existence, unless they totally REDO the gameplay and hideous Guest character choices ( scream being the wrost and effectively killing the game ) that slot couldve been anything from SolidSNAKE, LARA, almost anything anime, a fighting game character possibly from other umbrellas.
WB forces garbage down players and NRS throats. NRS never builds a game better, back. instead they destoy it into oblivion.
Obliterated.
Not disagreeing but how did Ghostface killed the game ? It had no impact it just had another peak of players for a short while and then it went down to it's usual 1.5-2k players on steam like it always does each season
I'm gonna say that although I don't see Ghostface that fitting for MK he is fun to play and has good voice lines but that's it, I'm also not fond of the 2 other ghostfaces aside from the gameplay mechanic
