It tells you and shows you how the timing of inputs changes how the opponent lands or how far back they get pushed. Someone skipped the tutorial i can see. humble yourself before making false statements .

SF needs links and actual timing mastery for combos.

#3 And so does every other fighting game name an MK game without links in them this statement is laughable its as if you don't actually play MK.

MK is so trash from this point of view, that you can't even jump 1, THEN confirm into a combo, you need to input your dial-a-noob combo before confirming the hit.

#5 All you have to do is research ... the game is banned in japan silly. Mk as a whole is banned in some countries . Japan is one of them. You just look silly.

And let's not even talk about neutral / movement (ultra trash in MK), or the fact that MK is the only game where the frame data makes ZERO SENSE, since you can be +12 on hit, and still unable to combo with a 9f startup move afterwards. . .

Why are you going so hard on this when you make a baited hot take to begin with? Of course there are opinions that are going to differ than yours. What you and most people that speak like this fail to realize is there are a ton of levels to fighting games that are worth their salt. Mortal Kombat is not now, nor ever, the deepest fighting system with the highest skill ceiling. That however doesn't mean that there aren't levels of the fighting system 99% of players will never reach. So you are really arguing semantics that are unwinnable. Higher levels of players can absolutely "press buttons" and do fairly well without knowing all the frame data. I have played fighting games my whole life and almost every single one I don't study and lab frame data over and over which is the ONLY WAY to not press buttons. Otherwise it's just a level of "feel" and limited skill set and that includes the combos.

SF, Tekken, and VF were all available during MK's rise to fame and are examples of games that have had incredibly difficult skill ceilings compared to mortal kombat. Again, this doesn't mean MK isn't a high level professionally played game but really outside of professionals we all are pressing buttons and somewhat living under varying levels of skill that all would be considered button mashers to any competent professional. Your assumptions over these posters and likely myself in the follow up response make so many presuppositions about one's character and deficits of character I find ironic considering you made this post which is nothing but flame bait that's already lit yet you are the one that continues to feel the burn from each reply.

MK has pretty much consistently rewarded memorizing strings since MK3.

Mashing "kinda" worked in MK2 and MK1, but still not really.

Games where mashing works simply allude to the fact that there is a viable footsie and neutral game under the surface. MK hasn't had either for almost 3 decades. I would argue that being able to mash at super low levels is actually somewhat of a good thing.

You might not be able to mash in MK, sure, but once you learn how to type the words on your controller you don't need much else.

Also - I love that NRS thinks they can substitute the word "jailing" for "Frame Trap." It's almost like they don't want to be taken seriously.
