"Objectifying the characters".
Ultimately, they're digital beings, not real people, I'm not sure as to why this is an issue exactly. They're instruments for ultra-violence as well, but alas a blind eye is turned to that without question. That's why we buy MK to begin with! Apparently, any form of sexualisation is a "betrayal" to women, but ripping them in half from the nether-regions up is apparently, a-ok. Interesting thought process.
I'll admit, MK9 was ridiculous due to it's adult entertainment star proportions for all female characters. The outfits though were fine and NRS do seem to be hypocritical when it comes to costume design, because they've openly admitted to wanting more "realistic combat attire" for the ladies, but the men aren't seeing the same treatment. Not only that, heels, NRS has a fetish / obsession for heels. There is never going to be a situation where wearing high heels in any form, qualifies as "realistic combat attire".
Street Fighter strikes a solid balance I feel. You end up with unique looking (body model) females (and males!) over there, that are capable of smashing heads as well as turning them.
They're all pixels at the end of the day, I don't think it's worth getting upset over, I just don't vibe the idea that the objectification of video game characters is problematic in any way, shape or form.
Mate, you're just making things up and claiming I said them at this point.
Not even worth replying to if you're just going to fabricate nonsense and then claim I said it.
Sure, they're just pixels until people start caring about how they look, who voices them and what personalities they have, which clearly a lot of people do in this thread. But I'm the weird one who cares too much🤦♂️
Honestly people will go to great lengths to justify wanting to see some TnA 🤦♂️
Not worth getting upset over was a generalised statement regarding all parties, for or against, not specifically aimed at you.
People do care about how they look, which is why this discussion is being had to begin with. Some people are for more skin showing or sexualisation, and others, like yourself, are not.
VA has no bearing on how the characters should look so I'm not sure as to what that rebuttal is, unless you're going to argue that every attractive woman, or woman that likes to wear certain types of clothing must speak in a seductive voice to represent that, which is just bonkers.
Personality? Sure, I'll agree with this one. SF6 has great looking male and female characters that manage to showcase their bodies, of various proportions in outfits that represent them and their personalities no issue.
This seems to be an issue for NRS though.
As for going to great lengths on justifying seeing TnA? I've been settled for over 11 years this October, I have two kids, I'm not angry nor upset that these changes are being made, I'm simply having a discussion about it where I disagree with your take.
You do you though.
The only good things to me about mk1 are truly good looking Sindel and hot Nitara. Rest is looking awful especially Tanya's face.
So I guess I'm right about the point that you want the op and this post to be canceled.
"Having female characters in revealing clothes gets Mk9 criticized" is an objective statement.
Yet saying that "MK9's female character portrayal is a betrayal to women so it gets criticized" involves your subjective personal judgment.
You threw MK9 as an example to tell that "digital female characters with good look and revealing outfit is objectification and betrayal to women". Quit denying it and shifting the topic.
I said it got backlash, not gets, as in past tense, already happened.
I said what I said, if you choose to read in to it and make character judgements and assessments about me be my guest but I NEVER claimed to be speaking on behalf of or for women. I simply expressed an opinion that you obviously disagree with, so instead of making ♥♥♥♥ up how about you just agree to disagree.
Sheesh.
Is that.... is that cleavage??? on a good looking woman with a pretty face??? AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA SAVE ME BIDEN SAVE ME AOC AAAA BLACKROCK WHERE ARE THE EGS FUNDS HELP MEEEEE
Steam is a damn cesspool honestly.
You are trying to shift and evade again. If your point and example aren't to tell that "female characters with good look and revealing outfit is objectification and betrayal to women", what is it then? What's the "opinion that I obviously disagree with"? You are the one who started giving no points, but playing with words.
You: "People are allowed to have opinions that are different to yours"
Also you:
I guess places with different people, different voices and different opinions are cesspools to you.
Can't debate and wants the opinions of other people to be shut down.
Hilarious really, completely avoided responding to my reply to reply to yours instead. comical.
