Johnny Cage Ball Buster Hype

Im not sure why but I can't do the ball buster hype when I input BD2 + L2 on my controller it never does the hype move, but when I do it with Shadow Kick BF4 +L2 it works fine and same with Rising Star DB3 + L2. Does it have something to do with my input timing or is my game just glitched out?

It's weird but also incredibly funny to me as a Cage player, Johnny is the only character that can permanently nerf himself. Gotta appreciate the attention to detail as well.
