Is this just a start of MK1? Will there be more updates for years?

Im looking to study and invest my time in a fighting game and like to start with MK1.

Am I late to the party? I really want to learn the game but also want a game that will get many more updates and characters :) thanks

At least one more kombat pack apparently and the 2nd one isn't even halfway released yet. You got plenty of time. People still play MKX and MK11 and they don't even have crossplay like MK1. There will always be people playing MK1.

No official word but they wouldn't announce it anyway until they ready to show it(Ed Boon one of the creators loves to try and surprise people) and they still have 3 KP2 characters to release over the next 6-ish months(There are leaks floating around already about whose in it which is usually how these work...all the KP packs get leaked).

Just basically assured cause the game sold over 4 million copies, MK11 had 3 KP packs, and they said they wanted to support MK1 longer than they did MK11. I mean with WB I guess anything can change but this is like the only game they had since Hogwarts Legacy that turned a profit.
