generally games that have been cancelled never get released, hence "cancelled"
It's a shame we won't get a Season 3 though.
The only "revelations" here are:
1. They have already moved the main body of development on to the next project (as they did with MK1, during MK11's expansion), a little over 12 months after release;
2. The "Khaos Reigns" DLC expansion has failed abysmally (likely due to pricing model, and the underwhelming base game it was attached to and did little to fundamentally change).
Only wet-behind-the-ears alphas and zoomers believed Boon's balderdash about "years of support", and to the point of laughable "KP3 roster" speculation. No one with even an occasional blimp on the E. E. G. line genuinely thought a game as roundly panned as a MK1, was going to become the base for some World of Warcraft-like "seasonal" support, into infinity... In fact, were that to have occurred, it would have been a clown level travesty.
Selling 3M in the first 3 months, then 1M in the next 9 -- followed by a DLC priced as if it were the full game that, 'shockingly', no one bought -- is not the formula for further support of a product.
