According to WB its successfull enough to make them consider making more dlc than originally planned, its also 1 off the most played games on ps5
It's just that they leveraged the beta to coerce people into preordering by making it a preorder bonus.
Crossplay BETTER come with Peacemaker.
Also that information about being successful comes from a leaker and he said that executives are satisfied (from my personal experience with corporates, "satisfied" doesn't mean much) but that info also comes about initial sales. February sales count mentioned that after getting those initial 3 million copies sold, the sales have slowed down tremendously, so WB's position could have changed as well.
Also one thing that came out, about WB, is that they expected the bulk of money to come from MK1 shop.
That is also a possibility, true.
Yeah, but that shows how disconnected they are with people, as not a lot of people liked the concept of that. Sure, people still bought it, but no matter how you slice it, that was anti-costumer practice 100%.
I'm not buying this game until Shang Tsung is part of base roster, not spending $8 extra for a preorder character, done with this ♥♥♥♥.
Amen to that.
You do realize that expensive can mean just paying insane price for a brand with no meaningful content? In today's economy 70 bucks is a lot. To a lot of people that's a week's worth of food. So if they spend the little spare money they have on the game, they would want that investment to count. Tekken 8 also costs 70 bucks. But the price to content ratio, makes it worth it. MK1 doesn't, hence it is expensive. Basic economics.
Doesn't help either, when you have other games like Helldivers 2 come with 40 bucks price tag and giving more fun content/experience, than most of AAA titles from corporates nowadays.
The price so far is $118 for base game, kombat pack and Shang Tsung.
For this amount of money all kameo characters should be fully playable characters.
It's hard to see the value.
They said this is restart of franchise, but even Kano and Sonya are not in base roster...
70$ was a lot in the SNES economy of 1995.
70$ in 2024.....that's less than dinner for 3 at Cheesecake Factory these days.
