Having graphical/technical issues with this game.
Maybe it's my hardware specs, but is it me or does Mortal Kombat 1 run poorly even if you lower the graphic settings? It takes forever to load on my PC and even struggles to maintain the 60 fps. Heck, even when skipping the opening cutscene, it takes a long time to get the title screen.

Just bought this during the recent Steam sale and I'm was looking forward to playing the game given I had traded in my Switch version for a Steam card.

Is there a way to fix this? And don't give me the "just update your pc with new video cards, etc." response.

Thanks.

Looks like I'm not the only one. I'm using a EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 FTW graphics card and even that can handle some games like Street Fighter 6. Again, I don't know if its because of my graphics card. But it possibly doesn't seem to be the case.

I hate to admit this, but the Nintendo Switch version ran more properly than the PC port.

I have a Ryzen 7 5700x and 3070 8GB, it was running badly on the HD, I changed it to SDD and it became another game, but the game itself is a bomb with no content, I went back to mk11 until they add more content

What do you mean by changing it to SDD and becoming another game?

BTW, I've played the Switch port of MK1 while I still had it, and gameplay-wise, it's better than MKX & MK11, and I'd rather play MK9 or the early entries that those two. So I wouldn't call it a bomb. But it still suffers from the same DLC microtransaction tactics that plagued the past two titles. I take it that's you meant by no content. I personally didn't get a chance to try out Invasions mode, but it's likely the source of the problem people have in regards to actual content.

I don't know what to do. Maybe I should just get a refund, buy the Guilty Gear Strive Season 3 Pass, rebuy the switch port, and wait until MK1 Ultimate or whatever the complete edition will be called, which will fix the bugs in the PC port, include all the DLC and hopefully all the content found only in the in-game store as an apology by WB & NetherRealm Studios.

This game is heavy on RAM (honestly need like 24GB) and hard drive SSD speed.

Y'know, what? Screw this. I'm refunding this game & re-buying the Switch port immediately. And I'll buy the PC version again once the inevitable MK1 Complete Edition comes out with all of the DLC & the devs actually fix the game rather than sell DLC.

Bought it on sale couple days ago…safe to say the PC port is unplayable for me. My frames fluctuate from 10fps-60fps every second. The stutter from this is unmanageable. I’ve uninstalled drivers, reinstalled drivers, all to no avail.

System Specs: AMD 9 9900x & ASRock 7900 XTX, and 64gb ram on a Samsung 990 Pro SSD.
All in game settings were set to low, 1440p, windowed & borderless (apparently there is no full screen option). I haven’t even had the ability to play more than a couple matches offline before trying to tweak things again. The stutter is legitimately unbearable. It’s stuttering during the benchmark tests and no matter how I tweak the settings…nothing fixes the problem.

Not to mention the shader cache issue. Is it supposed to load shaders like that every single time when you start the game up? I thought initial launch it ran the shader cache, then didn’t need to after that…

Wondering if you found a solution one year later or ended up getting a refund?

If you set it on low, make sure the textures are no higher than "high". I'm running it fine on Linux with an 8GB 3060ti. 60 fps in game and cut scenes. However it textures are higher it starts to stutter.

I came up with a fix tonight. Look at Fighter Customization Lag thread. I wish I came up with it sooner! The game runs flawlessly now!

Got a refund and ended up getting the Switch version again. At least it’s in a better state than it was at launch. Still waiting for that darn Conan bug to be patched though. 😖 I’m holding off for the inevitable Mortal Kombat 12 Ultimate Edition (or whatever the complete edition will be called) before I buy it on PC again.

Btw, I ended up getting another SSD for newer games. Street Fighter 6 runs faster now on it & I would imagine Mortal Kombat 12 will run the same too.
Hey I'm also having the same problems too, the game was working fine before the latest update, now the game is totally unplayable. Hate to bum you guys out but you'll never see a complete version of MK1, they'll just keep releasing DLC after DLC and charge you an arm and a leg for it. With each new DLC they release they'll update the game which will break the game even further than it has been already.
update miss it up
Set both mk12.exe processes to low in Task Manager after launching the game, and see if that helps. It made a big difference for me.
