mortal kombat isnt opening helppp

Okay so for Christmas my older brother bought me Mortal Kombat 1, and yesterday I downloaded it and tried to open it; only to be met with the response "Unable to initalize steamAPI please make sure your steam is running and you are logged into an account entitled to the game". I re-downloaded the game twice, restarted my PC, went to the firewall thing with the check boxes, did something with the files I think that basically made it an entirely new game, re-logged into my account, yet nothing has worked and now I dont know what to do because all my other games are opening. So now im wondering if anyone else has had this same problem with this game or another game, cause steam support is not helping me whatsoever...

Could possibly be an error with the beta version of steam if you participated. Steam could be corrupted so All you'd need do is go to your steam installation and copy the steam apps folder over to a new drive for safe keeping . Then you'd use something like revo unistaller to unistall all traces of steam. You'd only redownload steam then after that just drag your steamapps folder to the location of steam/steamapps location on your C drive and let the platform scan your drive and that's it. You don't have to uninstall the game itself .

Certain parts of steam can get corrupted , and your systems registry could possibly be corrupted. I'd start with steam first hence it not being able to find steamAPI. If that doesn't work then you can try cleaning your windows install by simply running two commands in CMD as admin.

Sometime windows has issues and you'd have no idea because its still working .
