They're not secret brutalities if you are handed them by the game via levelling up characters' mastery system.
To me a 'secret' brutality would be a string that is not given to you in any part of the game
These alternate versions of brutalities are not listed in the move list btw... these are for players to figure out by themselves. You have to unlock the default version of the brutality to be able to do both versions anyways.
These easter eggs have existed in MKX and MK11 as well.
Well I will stand corrected if someone can tell me the difference between the Li Mei Sky Lantern brutality in the video they posted and what I do every day. Not being a ♥♥♥♥ I just genuinely cant see it

The one where it blows up is the alternate, and not the normal one as I thought. Guess I discovered it by myself by accident. I hardly use the movelists
Nowadays the games come with move list references... back in the day you had to know them in your head. The finishing moves were only available in game magazines and strategy guides. Even the game manual never covered everything.
Hehe I remember my tiny paperback MK2 move list for the Commodore Amiga 500!
