Is Mortal Kombat 1 worth buying over Mortal Kombat 11?

I own neither game. Not really a hardcore fighting game player. The last fighting game I bought/played was Soul Calibur 6 where I was extremely disappointed by the micro-transactions and how they either omitted or ret-conned the move sets of my favorite characters. I doubt I will be buying Soul Calibur 7 but do have an itch to play a fighting game again.

I did some research into the genre and most people have said that Mortal Kombat 11 was the best game in the genre at the time. But now Mortal Kombat 1 was recently released and it is technically newer. Is it worth buying the newer Mortal Kombat 1 at full price or is Mortal Kombat 11 the better purchase in its "finalized" format?

not right now, buy mk11 for now and then get mk1 when it's cheaper and "complete" edition is out

You should wait for a huge discount and probably 6 months + of updates before even considering MK1
