I don't think he is trolling. If you look at the first three MK games from the 1990s, the atmosphere of the games was something totally different from this game. Those games had a 1980s ninja movie feel to them while the new games are super hero stories + fatalities. But the violence of the fatalities doesn't even make sense in the game anymore since it has lost that Chinese martial arts movie feel to it. Now MK is a super hero game with these bizarre fatalities that don't quite fit, but are kept there out of habit. I hoped this game being called MK1 and all, would return to the 1980s. But unfortunately it is just more of the same boring stuff. Horrible stories that try to imitate an Avengers movie or something.
Honestly yeah, the gritty dark style of MKX suit Mortal Kombat best.
But that's just how games "evolve" they explore in the opposite artistic style and may come back full circle eventually. For example Street fighter used to be cartoonish but has opted for the 6th installment to go for a more realistic style.
MKX was one of the worst visual styles MK has ever had and aged like milk in the space of 6 months.
Has nothing to do with visual style and more with the graphics/lighting which is improved with each game, you are entitled to your opinion but it seems it's based on incorrect facts.

MKX released in 2015, there was no other release from the NetherRealms until 2017, that is certainly not 6 months, so wrong on that account as well.
I actually agree with all of this statement 500%. I would rather more martial arts less magic.
bro just say you played it on a potato
Game looks fine mate. Always got something to complain about. Many dark level formats too.
The game is too bright and colorful.
Wanted some more black + purple + pink + red MK2 outworld.
