The only way to resolve the desync bug is to have Havik and Shang Tsung unlocked.
I discovered this after having 63 hours of game, as I pre-ordered it and have been playing since 09/14/2023.
My version of the game came with Shang Tsung, but I needed to release Havik by finishing the story mode.
I finished story mode without watching the movies.
With Havik and Shang Tsung unlocked, the game started to work normally.
I will report it to Netherrealm and post it here in the Steam discussions.
