lmao I think I just solved the matchmaking problem (read this if you're never finding matches!)

So, I decided "let's try verifying game files, why not" and they verified just fine - no issues - BUT immediately after that, it triggered re-downloading the Wednesday patch.

I had absolutely already installed that patch when it came out. And yet, somehow, my game had reverted I guess? I have auto-updates on and everything had been claiming the game was up to date. But after the patch reinstalled, I went online and was back to finding matches all the time.

So it seems like instead of *warning me* I was on an old version, the game was letting me sit in the queue and just waiting to find the other few unlucky people who also somehow got unpatched.

So yeah: if you are waiting in the queue forever to find matches, try verifying files and see if your game then updates!

Right click game in Steam list -> Properties -> Installed Files -> Verify

you might still have to do what i said sometimes the game does not registar that you bought him and you need to do what the video showed you
