The rise of prices...

Despite the decrease in tech costs now that we've globally hit a wall regarding advancing technology.
Despite electronic sales making publishers and distributors less important.
Despite the reduction of physical media needing to be created.
Despite the lack of proper QA testing.
Despite the lack of proper NetCode testing.

Starfield used he same Engine as Fallout 4.
MK1 uses the same Engine as MK11.

This does not include the expected paid-DLC.

...and somehow, we've seen a price increase of games that are quite literally remakes of other games...

If you purchased this game at the price they're asking, unfortunately, you're enabling this practice.

...but as somebody who has held various jobs in the industry, to include distribution and sales, I know, for a fact, that there is no reason for this increase.

In fact, given what I /do/ know, the prices should be reduced.

MK1 has sold 80 million units.

It's a huge pain to figure out total unit sales on all formats, on the planet.

For Steam alone it's 187 K - 292 K units.

Stick to 5 bucks indie games then. There are video games for all budgets. It's ok you can no longer afford AAA games that costs hundreds of millions and several years to develop.

I'd be ok with $70-80 for a COMPLETE game. Nowadays they just cut out content to sell as "DLCs". IIRC they even doubled the price for a Kombat Pack... This is insane!

So as an example for this new MK:

Premium Edition $95 (I took this because it's the cheapest)
Kombat Pack 2 might be the same as the first with $40
Kombat Pack 3 also $40
(1st?) Story DLC I guess $40-60

Those alone are $215-235 and I think there will be at least a 2nd Story DLC and maybe a 4th Kombat Pack.

I think I'll handle this like MKX and MK11 and wait for the Ultimate Editions in a couple of years.

I mean I was going to wait until it hit half off or something originally but my gf and I ended up getting covid just like right before release and we were stuck at home and mostly in bed so went with ♥♥♥♥ it and it killed.. well not much time to finish story/invasion. Took a lot longer just to max seasonal character levels for the like 10ish characters in game I care about so far. I'm just doing the others for the dragon krystals now
