Have had the stuttering issues and found a remedy.

IMPORTANT NOTE: I have had to repeat this process every time before playing the game so far. Luckily its a simple process.

Within the Steam App, make sure you have Mortal Kombat displayed:

Select settings icon
Select Properties
Select General
Disable screen overlay
Delete overlay data

Please let us know if this helped you as it might help others!

All credit to Danny Moran and hopefully it helps you fix the stutter.

For thoes who still struggling with stutters and fps spikes.

Find MK12.exe in SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Mortal Kombat 1\MK12\Binaries\Win64 go to "Propereties" and check "Disable fullscreen optimisation". Also I tried disabling Steam and Geforce Experience overlays and now game runs much smoother, try for yourself guys maybe that helps. I don't know exactly what helped 'cause I've tried everything including Nvidia Control Panel one, unpark cores and also Reduce Memory (just in case) 'cause it helped in Hogwarts one day.

If you're curious of my PC specs it's in my profile.

Also sorry for tangent but it's a shame that nowadays it's becoming common that players must find ways to comfortably play the game that cost so much.

I don't have much stuttering in my game but honestly, after the patch it seems to have gotten worse. I may have to look into this.

Trust me i did all 3 and my game stopped stuttering, but some of them might not work by themselves. Bc when I unparked my cores, i was still stuttering. It only stopped when i did the other 2. I put it in here with the others just in case it fixes any of yours pc problem. So keep that in mind

Disabling your E cores in the BIOS helps too. If you have a 12th Gen Intel CPU and up.

If you have no option to disable E-cores in the BIOS you should use Process Lasso app and disable "Windows dynamic thread priority boosts" (MK12.exe right click -> CPU priority -> Always). This solved all the stuttering problems for me.

Reprogram your whole computer just for one game

We have been tweaking computers to run games since PC gaming's conception. Crysis had people doing everything short of running liquid nitrogen to cool their machines down to try to get it to run (actually I think people actually did try this). I guess everyone just expects plug and play now, but we used to take pride in tweaking.
But I get it, there are issues, bugs and performance problems with a new release game and we should not HAVE to do these things on top end machines. But if it helps and you learn more about how the machine you spend so many hours on actually functions, it can be a good thing.

Yes, and if you don’t want to mess with your registry, The same company that makes Process Lasso also makes ParkControl to unpark your cores.

You are the best! Appreciate compiling all this! As for me, my original solution isn't working today. I also tried enabling and disabling VSYNC, but that doesn't work either... So onto the other solutions.

Update: I've also tried unpark cores and had my FPS overlay running for reference.

Upon a restart, the game worked great at mostly 60FPS and as low as 30FPS.

However, the problem came back after exiting the game and starting it again.

While it can be frustrating, I totally agree. It's like a game in and of itself. Haha.

The stuttering is very weird. I had no stuttering the first few days. Then randomly I had stuttering appear halfway into a session. The only thing that fixed it for me was completely restarting my PC and it didn't come back. But the fact it even happened is really weird. I'm on Windows 10 running a RTX 3070 and Ryzen 3600X if that helps.

I am beginning to believe it's just a luck of the draw.

Sometimes i start the game, and it stutters really bad. Other times I start the game and get a solid 60 FPS.

I think what's confusing others possibly with the solutions working is a change and then the game "randomly" works.

That is my new consensus. Lol. I still have no explanation for the times that it does stutter though.

If it still happens then try to delete you overlay data *from the 1st suggestion* the person who made that response said they delete their overlay data everytime they start the game. hope this helps
