How is the single player?
I don't get into much online combat in fighters, but I do enjoy single player rpg games with a fighting game system.

How is this games single player mode?
1. Is it fun?
2. Does it have decent progression?
3. Is it linear or more open world?
4. How long would it take to play through RPG mode?
5. Any other things you would like to bring up about the single player rpg mode of this game...

There are basicly 4 ways how to play singleplayer. I start from the least exiting to the possibly most exiting.
1) fighting vs AI-Enemys: Just select your character, and the enemys character that you want to face, select his difficulty and have a fun time. But i think playing this mode alone could become a bit boring after a short time
2) Towers: Basicly the same stuff as 1. But where you have to face multiple opponents in a row with if you wish for it, slowly increased difficulty, to see how far you can come and what tower-size you can conquer. Its basicly the same stuff with 1 with additional motivational spice since you really have goals to look out for
3.) Invasion Mode. This is a long single player almost "board game" where you move your character along a big board/map and have to face opponents with additional challenges like they having armor, fireballs flying from the sky, having to face 3 weak opponents one after another or having to fight a difficult bossfight that has multiple healthbars etc. I think this one might be your primary mode to play with since to tip the first unfair sounding odds in your favour you have a lot of RPG elements to help out. Like leveling your character to get better stats, upgrading a talisman for an magical ability, that you can only find in invasion mode, or a talisman who gives you some special buffs etc. It also is very long, it will take around 20-30 hours to complete, with additional invasion-towerchallenges and some end-game areas to increase the playtime even further. The only downside in my opinion is that you cant select the difficulty in invasion mode, so for an somewhat experienced player in fighting games, the many fights might be to easy, so that only the grind awaits, but i think especially for casual mode i think it is a very good and fun single player mode
4) the campain. Its just a 8-12 hours long epic mortal kombat adventure with likable characters, over the top action seen and all the madness that you know and love when you have played other mortal kombat games before. I really really loved my time with it and i hope you will too.

To spice things up, the game also has a lot of unlockables, daily and weekly challenges etc. to give you goals to achieve while you play through the mode of your choice to further motivate you, by having something to look forward/work towards to.

All in all in my opinion MK1 is not only fun for Multiplayer Fans (i would even say its less fun for them thanks to currently bad balance) but also a LOT of fun for single players, even purely single players and i would think that you can get over 50 hours of playtime in the game, before you have seen everything from the campain and the invasion mode so that only towers remain/the game will become a bit repetitive, so if you are willing to pay the indeed sadly quite costly price for 50 hours of fun, i would recommend to go for it! :)
