rANKED IS A JOKE
I'm trying to learn Kenshi and I took him into rank expecting my rank to be reset to 0 since I'm learning a new character. But nope. Its showing me highly ranked with a character I never used? and its forcing me against people TWICE MY RANK for some reason on a fighter I literally am new to how does that make any fking sense

If your rank reset to zero with every new character you'd be smurfing. You might not know much about this new character but you are already familiar with universal mechanics, have some matchup knowledge and the fundamentals carry over. It wouldn't be fair if you could start over at the same rank where newbs to fighting games play.

I mean... Everyone's cheating online anyway for PC. That's why we won't get Cross play.
What? Do you guys talk out your ass this often or is this a new thing?

Number one, I would say. Having said that cheating definitely isn't impossible in fighting games. From macros to automatic throw teching.

I totally agree. There are too many players (in other fighting games) who start over and over with new characters just to obliterate unexperienced players on lower ranks. IMO, there should be one rank per account.

You get what you deserve, Kenshi player.

But 100% agreed. SF6 did almost everything perfect, especially ranked.
They need to make a lot of adjustments, this being near the top of the list.

It would be cool to have a separate rank for each character. Send NRS a suggestion. I’m sure they’ll jump on any idea that makes their game more grindy.

I did. And it doesn't make the game more grindy. It appropriately matches you with someone who's equally as good as you are with a given character.

As it stands right now, if you're god-tier with Kenshi but you're a beginner with Shao Khan, when you play as Shao Khan you're still going to get matched with a god-tier player due to the cumulative rank built with Kenshi. [/quote]
You don’t think creating separate ranks for each character has potential to be grindy? I will see myself out…

I get the complaint as I do find it interesting how SF6 implements it and that is the first time I have run into this system before. However it is just more hand holding at the end of the day for people to "feel" good at all times in their online experiences. I mean "hardcore" players should cite the arcade days where you just played whoever showed up with no complaints as long as you kept winning. Casual matches should be viewed as the practicing new characters and ranked to be the try hard mode. I see no issue with trying a new character and going to casual.

Plus just because someone is trying a new character, doesn't mean they will run into the same "equal playing field level" either. Far from it. Plenty of great players will destroy newer players that have a higher rank with a single fighter they are using than a high ranked frame player trying different characters out. So it doesn't really make much difference imho.

I dont mind the current system. I just do as I did with MK11.. At the start of a new season when everyones rank is reset I pick the new character I want to play for the entire season and start learning it in ranked.

What did you do in Mortal Kombat 11 when you hit this problem? Just do the same: go to training, kasual, etc to learn the new character. Unfortunately this MK lacks many things in online mode like "lobbies". Don't expect them to implement the same "template" as SF or TK for now.

Funny.

Just because the former title did not have it (SFV did not have it either) that doenst mean that is a good thing. Games should develop. In that part MK just didnt. And a good working ranked system is fundamental of a long life cycle.

Knowing the past of NetherRealm Studio games (MK9, MKX and MK11) they used the same template/system for online mode (ranked, kasual, KOH and lobbies). In MK1 it got lost the lobby system, an important feature for an online mode. That is why I don't expect anything for now.
