How to perform brutalities?

I've unlocked the prompts for how to do the brutalities and understand that they have to be the last move of the battle before the Fatality prompt. I am having no luck in performing them. Am I supposed to hold any buttons down? i.e. direction or attack button or even both

Go into the pause menu and pull up your, or your Kameo's move list. Find the brutality, highlight it, and press 1 to see it's requirements. (1 generally being X on PC as it uses the Xbox controller layout.)

Easiest Brutality you can do is wait until enemy's health is really low then press down and hold Y (Uppercut)

By default every char has the uppercut brutality unlocked so if your last hit to drain health to 0 is an uppercut, hold down the uppercut button when performing the move.

I've only had no trouble with the uppercut brutality. lmao
