MK1 Command Input Issues
The TL;DR is at the bottom.

The main issue I'm having with the combat right now is with the input reading; combo assist? I don't know what to call it. I accidentally do special moves I never intend to.

- When playing sub-zero, after launching someone in the air, if I want to light punch (1) into a diving glacier (D, B, 4), I will instead do a light punch into an ice clone (D, B, 1). In order to do the diving glacier, I would need to press any other command not associated with a special move that uses D, B. To make it easier for the combo, it would be better to just press 1, then 4 into D, B. In order to do a special move, you need to input the directionals first (D, Db, B, U, etc.) and then input the attack (1, 4, 1+2, etc.). This sequence of inputs has been in all fighting games for as long as I can remember. However, in this game, you can input the attack first and then the directionals. This makes doing a lot of combos unnecessarily difficult getting just about impossible the more complex the combo.

On top of that, in order to end the combo with an enhanced special move, you NEED to input the combo correctly while also doing a little extra. This puts me in a situation like so:

As Sub-zero, I want to shin shatter (B+3) into an enhanced ice slide (B, F, 3+RT/R2), but if I try to do the enhanced ice slide by going (B+3) into (B, F, 3 +RT/R2), it would read the (B, F) and automatically do the regular ice slide. The only way to do the enhanced version of the attack is to hold the RT/R2 before and during execution of the directionals ended with the appropriate attack.

Some other things are a quality of life and opinion:

- During story mode, there is no "rematch" option available until after you lose the match. It's unnecessary and pointless to not have it. Currently, I'm playing on Hard and I'm just getting into the game's mechanics. I will lose more than I win in which I am totally fine with and I play two rounds so if I lose the first, I can still comeback; if I lose the second, I still get training and polishing practice in. However, in the cases I lose the first round and know for a fact I am going to lose the second round, I should not have to wait to restart the match. If anything, I'd just do nothing until the CPU beats me making it a huge waste of time. In the event, I am a slight perfectionist and choose to restart the match after losing the first round, still, what's the harm in allowing me to do so. Even if I set it to one round, it should still be in my right.

- Enhanced moves are too easily interruptible imo. There have been times where I use an enhanced special for it to be stopped and "kountered" by a light jab or regular special.

- The dashes are not "dashy" enough. At best, to close the gap, you can only do one dash before the enemy recovers after taking damage. If I use an enhanced special launching an enemy into the air, I should be able to close the distance before they recover. In order for me to do that, I'd need to use a special. From what little I did learn, it is almost always better to block or rock, paper, scissors an Okie than whiff opponents because the dash animations are so slow and short in distance and the enemy recovery is so fast, they're attacking as soon as they hit the ground.

- The enemy gets a final blow, but we don't and the final blow recharges even after it misses. Not saying I need it, but dammit if they get one, why can't I? On that note, I don't dislike "comeback" mechanics, but I am against them when only the losing party gets access to them. The second and third round is the comeback mechanic >:(. Anyways, if they DO use it, it should be a one-time use only thing. It shouldn't recharge. It's called a "Final" blow ffs.

TL;DR

- The game's input system makes it to where you can do a combo by attacking first and then using the directionals which makes doing certain combos more difficult than necessary. To end combos with enhanced specials, you have to hold the RT/R2 while doing the special you wish enhance.

- The story mode needs a "restart match" option in the pause menu.

- Enchanced moves are too easily interrupted by regular attacks (Strong opinion).

- The dash animation is slow and it doesn't move you far enough in either direction. You're better off using a special if possible (Strong opinion).

- Final blow should be giving to us the same time the CPU gets it in story mode and it should only be a one-use only move (Opinion).
