Super Armor - Why?
So is this just pure laziness that they didn't want to have the CPU really fight? Is it to mess with your timing if you try to get better at the game in any other way than online grind? Can anyone give a logical explanation of why auto-armor, excuse me - SUPER armor is in all invasion modes (including hourly, weekly and monthly towers) or in the game in general?
It's really bad when fighting Johnny Cage, Rain and Sindel as they have stall moves and the whole time they cannot be touched so you have to wait for them to finish the move or wait for them to land (Johnny's star power moves really suck because he's just automatically gets juiced up). Just wondering what other people's thoughts are. I know this isn't what most people get a game like this for, but it really sucks the fun out of a big chunk of the game.

The game is structured around a grind, like a mobile title. Anything that increases the grind, increases the playtime, which makes the game look better to outsiders, potential customers, and most importantly shareholders. "It took this player 10+ hours just to do these few things, talk about value for money!"
It's all bloat. And it's all very scummy. However there are people already working on bypasses and unlockers so that's something.

I wasn't really referring to "grind" in that way. In order to get competitively good, you have always had to grind to compete. My question was about super-armor - this doesn't increase the grind - it simply encourages bad play. A successful hit in regular play hits armor in invasions hence why I said it disturbs one's attack timing. It does absolutely nothing to improve or even (to your point) artificially lengthen play.

Except it does, as it wastes your time by nullifying hits, thus making fights last longer than they should.

By literal seconds per fight - it would make more sense to have the fighters, I don't know, actually have some level of difficulty behind them. My point is that it is lazy and does very little to extend the grind in the manner you speak of. Once you have a modicum of skill, it is just an annoyance. If they wanted to add to the grind, there are hundreds of much better ways to do it. And, with a game like this, which has endless grind in order to collect all the goodies and compete online - it is no need to artificially extend each offline fight by twenty seconds at the cost of irritating the customer out of playing that mode. I cannot believe this is simply just to make people play for a bit longer and if it is, it is the worst unnecessary implementation of a "game feature" I have ever encountered.

super armor isn't the problem. Black Clouds are the problem(the levels filled with smoke that cause you to keep coughing every second.) Whoever thought that would be a fun idea should be fired.

Not bragging by any means just making a point but i started invasion since thats where the super armor is 4 days ago and ive walked it down only losing once, im almost invasion level 20 it really hasnt been a challenge what so ever to me at least. Almost at the end too, also invasion is not the place to go to get any sort of practice its just there for fun lol

But it's not fun. That's the point. Not hitting when it should be just because we decided so is stupid and annoying - not fun. I've beat invasions mode and I have eight characters up to level fifteen (for the brutality unlocks) and three kameos maxed. That's not the point. It is a stupid, artificial way of making the opponent "tougher" rather than just turning up difficulty or coming up with actual creative modifiers (hell, just steal them from the last game - it would be better than this). It's lazy. Yes, there have been modifiers in MK for a long time, but not one that is in every match, all the time!

Yes, this is another one that is lame beyond belief. Also, who thought it was a good idea to keep the stage effects going after the battle so there is no way to get the fatality for the points?

I'm having fun with it so thats subjective

Of course its subjective! That is the very definition of an opinion.
I've had fun with the game too, otherwise I would not have logged sixty hours in it already. However, super armor is a lazy mechanic. In MK11, SOMETIMES people had armor and every character had an armor breaking move. Now, they just get armor when they feel like it and some characters, like Johnny Cage can just stand there and you can't hit him at all while he mugs for the crowd. And if this is a staple for every invasion that comes through and all the towers, it is going to get old - and already has for me after sixty hours. I like the game and that's why I don't want it to die for me because of a lazy mechanic that was stuck in to artificially make the opponent tougher. I would rather get my butt kicked by an OP CPU opponent than just have my hits do no damage to an easy opponent.

And I'd also like to add that dismissing this as "not really a big deal" simply encourages this lazy garbage. That's why I wrote something here. I hope they rejig some of these mechanics and make them more acceptable and actually fun. I loved the modifiers in MK11 - these are just bad.

its really not a big deal man its not hard to beat invasion if you are having trouble i suggest you practice its just that cut and dry. the only thing i agree with you on is super armor is overused but again its hardly slowed me down

LOL! I'm not having trouble! Are you purposefully misunderstanding at this point? I've beat invasions four or five days ago. I've unlocked EVERYTHING in the shrine and have EIGHT characters pushed to level fifteen or further.
Let me see if you can get it if I put it this way - IT IS A LAME MECHANIC. PERIOD. That is my point which in the second half of your statement - you agree with me for crying out loud! I never said I was having trouble with any aspect of the game, I said that mechanic sucked. So you agree with me and just decided it would be fun to argue a point that nobody is making?
