OMG, even RE4 Remake Players now...
Are higher than peak players on MK1.
I mean MK1 record of peak players are just a shy of 38k people and it's a new game.
While Resident Evil 4 Remake peak players today are 40k and still climbing thanks to the newly added DLC, and that's a 6 months old game.
Man, is MK1 that bad?

it doesn't have crossplay.

Look, I don't own Mortal Kombat 1 and I'm going to admit that I'm not that big a fan of the series generally - but what the hell is this obsession with the number of people playing it at any given time?

Right now there 13k people online playing the game. Lets say the ratio of single player to multiplayer is awful and there are only 1000 people actually playing online. That's more than enough for a fighting game - it's not like you're going to have to scratch around on Discord to find a match (not an insult, lovely Discord communities) and it only needs 2 players - it's not like some Battle Royale that needs 100 just to kick off.

MK1 is absolutely fine. and even if you DID want to compare it directly to RE4, please consider that RE4 has a pretty huge installed userbase, was critically acclaimed for the most part and just dropped an extremely good value DLC.

You really do need to get a grip. Wringing your hands over a game with over 10k people playing in on Steamcharts even more pathetic than having a panic attack over Twitch numbers.

What are you talking about? Fighting games is a very specific genre, for a limited category of players. Not every RE4 player can play fightings, but any fighting player can play RE4.

I tried to compared it to SF6, and it still looks bad for MK1 as well

truth is, if mk1 didn't have such a pathetic launch it would have done sf6 numbers. now it's gonna die a quick death.
MK1 = 13k SF6 = 21k not including cross play :steamfacepalm:

but SF6 got 70k players at launch, and that is the most players for fighting game ever on steam.

console players are always the main target for fighting games. mk wont die so fast as u think. maybe the pc port will be stopped in the future, but unlikely. u guys r black painter.

fighting games have always been on the more acquired taste side of gaming so I'm not surprised in the slightest. plus most people who haven't gotten it yet are just waiting for the pc version to be better optimized. Also the larger player base for MK has ALWAYS been on console. the steam numbers don't mean much compared to the PS5 numbers. if you want an accurate showing of how well the game is doing find PS5 and Xbox numbers

Street Fighter 6 released on a weekend and in the middle of Summer as well.

Mortal Kombat 1 is already the 3 highest played fighting game on Steam. Troll topic.
