The game was always intended to have Asian characters. But digitizing actors and a small studio making games on a tiny budget....... Well you make do with what you have. No one thinks John Turk is Asian, but there was a big ♥♥♥♥♥ fight at Midway regarding Daniel Pesina (The original Johnny Cage), so we got unmasked Sub-Zero played by a really buff, really white guy. It was easier if they wore masks, *sigh* Honestly part 3 is when the game went extremely silly and although the game was created awesomely, the internal ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ at Midway regarding the actors? Yeesh! I can just imagine Ed Boon having to deal with all the replacements knowing they won't look like MK 1 or MK 2 characters. I cannot be for sure, but I imagine the HELL at Midway was palpable. Hell it bled over into MK 4.
