MK and The Problem of Desensitized Gore

I been a long time fan of the series but it is time for the series to grow up and step up, I was ecstatic when they stopped sexualizing their female characters but this time they have to stop and take a look at the legacy of this series and how they can market it to the future generations to come into FGC.

I can't introduce my kids to this game due to the overt gore but with enough concerned parties we might be pushing for the series to reach its peak that can't be toppled off.

Please get rid of gore for the sake of introducing more players into the playerbase.

Not gonna lie, doing the same couple fatalities hundreds of times to grind for new ones and get the bonus hearts is tedious AF.

So I would like more Fatalities to be available from the beginning, and have some more variation on Friendships.

I also wouldn't mind if they got rid of those stupidly long animations for the desperation attacks. I was never a big fan of those in the first place and they get super tedious after a while too.

But remove gore?

No.

Never gonna happen.

That has been an essential part of the series since its inception, and if I could handle it in the original MK at 12 years old or whatever, then I'm sure kids today can handle it at about the same age. Of course it's up to parents, which it should be. Entertainment meant for adults should never be censored for kids.

You're thinking WB. They own MK. They removed MK9 from all the stores. It is up to them what gets put into the game. NRS are basically Yes Men who will do everything WB tells them to. In order for them to sell it on Nintendo. They need to tone down the costumes because kids play their console. This is why MK9 and MKX had them, while MK11 and MK12 doesn’t. But honestly, it’s probably more than just Nintendo. WB probably thinks they’re doing the right thing based on you know…those people.

At one point in time you'd have been right, but as of recent, not really. Nintendo claimed to be anti censorship when drama arose about Sony banning a certain adult game while Nintendo gave it the green light. Also up until late last year, Nintendo had been allowing hentai games on the Eshop for a few years and MK11 was already 3 years old by that time. Also keep in mind that female breasts aren't as big a deal in Japan as it is in other countries

Sony and Microsoft ban hentai games too afaik, though I can't confirm. I'm thinking it could just be a console thing

Dude gore ain't the problem, the problem is parents not explaining to their kids the difference between what's real and what isn't. I use to have a similar concern being a parent of a 4 year old with autism, I took time to explain to him the difference between fantasy and reality. Now arguments about gore in games I view the same as when people say video games cause violence. Plus mortal kombat isn't a kids game so they shouldn't play to start with, why water it down if it isn't ment for them? Anyway imma gladly play this and my son is just as excited to watch me play it and maybe try himself.

(TL:DR - teach your kids the difference between reality and fantasy if you want them to play it, it's not the games problem as it's not made for kids to begin with)

It always makes me laugh when I read stuff like "I was ecstatic when they decided to stop sexualising women!", when the series even up to this very point intentionally has had very muscular men shirtless and countless different skin variants for them.

But now having have a big winge about the gore? We got over this in the mid 90's when every parent was freaking out over Mortal Kombat. It's been done to death at this point and we have moved on.

Your kids shouldn't ever be playing an R18+ game, gore or no gore.

One is empowering women to take control of their life while the other is portraying them as meat for the eyes of men.

Game ratings are ambiguous and malleable, MK doesn't need to stick to being a rated M game since the only thing making it hold that rating is just a silly mechanic involving blood.

Fatalites have always been a part of MK since 1992. Also with all of the gore in 11 it was one of the most sold fighting games ever so there is legit no reason to change the direction.
What i would suggest is asking for a "Gore Mode" which you can turn off if you wish your kids to play the game. Outside of that no offense its not gonna happen (sorry)

In my opinion the last MK was huge dissapointment cause the gore was toned down by a lot. All those fatalities looked kinda weak. I wished they made it even more gorry and brutal.
