My first thought as well
Also aren't Omi-Man and Homelander basically the same character abilty wise?
I wouldn't want either one, but the fact we get them both in the same pack is amazingly stupid regardless how you slice it. As far as the mortal kombat characters, ermac is alright, but ninja wise would have rather had smoke or rain, assuming they are not in the main roster. Quan chi is meh, but not horrible, but I could think of a lot better choices. Takeda is pretty lame, thought we would be free of the kombat kids this time around, only one remotely interested in having back is cassie.
Kameo characters I figure is going to be lame characters not worth taking the time to design as full characters, most of those choices make sense minus johnny cage which if he does indeed end up only as a kameo instead of a roster character, makes me worried actual cool characters like smoke, rain, or jade will end up on the kameo roster. When honestly instead the kameo characters should be strictly unpopular/forgotten characters and used as a way to measure if their is an actual demand to bring a certain character back as a full roster member down the road.
While not revealed yet, the working theory atm is assist characters ala the original marvel vs capcom. Meaning they will not be playable characters and instead of an actual tag team mode, the game will have assist characters you can call on during the match to run in and spam various moves at various times. Think most recently in mk11 the assists you use in towers. Essentially an easy way for them to include a lot of characters people may want to see, but don't have the popularity needed to make them worth taking the time to design them as full fledged roster members. However it can be used as a way to feel out the crowd and if a certain kameo character got really high praise, it could lead them to becoming an actual roster member in a later dlc/game.
