The story of this game doesn't make sense.

Why did Lou Kang keep Kronika around? Why did he bother keeping his enemies around in this new timeline? Even then, why not alter their personalities? He had powers beyond the elder gods in their last game.

The games after Armageddon has been one reboot that leads into another reboot and honestly it's a head ache to bother keeping up with it. I don't like it that Raiden is a mortal, and what does this mean for his brother Fujin?

I enjoyed the direction they went narrative wise. Those heroes becoming the leaders of the nether realm after Quan Chi and Shinnok were out of the picture.

All the old antagonistic characters in MK should not be antagonists after Lou Kang rewrote the timeline and should give way to new villains.

It would have been much more interesting if the canonical ending was where Shang Tsung won and expanding the other realms in the MK universe since they've proven with this story line that the user of the hour glass cannot account for everything.

Pure laziness. They should have kept the lore and story simple. Big bad guy comes out of a portal (Shao), (Onaga), (Quan Chi) decides to take over all realms one good guy shows up (Raiden) to stop them they fight others join in add few things here and there and you have a story. Not this lore, time reset ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that is just an excuse because they ran out of ideas.

If I was the Keeper of Time, I would do exactly the same thing. I know how to beat my enemies, because I did it before. I know what they did in their last timeline, I know their personalities and what they are capable off and above all, I know their weaknesses.

If I get rid of them, the balance between evil and good will be broken. At that moment, People who are good, can become evil. Or even more worse a unknown evil can be awaken. God knows what will emerce from the unknown.

From Liu Kang perspective, he did a smart thing. And you can't alter someone's personality. You can only alters someone personalities to change things around that person, which takes a lot of time and a lot of effort.

It is one of the terrible consequences of using concepts as "timeline" and "multiverse", because it serves as excuse to make any changes you want and try to get away with it. In the end it just shows how Originality is DEAD. A few years from now, they will just reboot everything again.

I do recommend Street Fighter 6 & Mortal Kombat 11, if you have the chance to play them. While the stories in both of those games aren't anything to write home about. The gameplay, is what kept me invested and why I dug so much time into it. The basic combat cycle is easy to learn but hard to master and even watching it from an outsiders perspective it is a great time.

I am curious on why you didn't like SF4 or MK9 though.

I've seen it fully, included some tower endings....

The formula is basically unchanged: Fight, cutscene, next chapter. You have Test Your Might sometimes mixed with some NPC fights.

Kenshi gets blinded by Mileena, Shang Tsung is THE evil doer, Kronika = Shang Tsung, Quan Chi appears because DEADLY ALLIANCE, Ermac appears a lot and is akshually Jerrod, Reptile doesn't actually do much and gets one shot in the last Pyramid cutscene, YASS KWEEN, white male Raiden appears and is still just as useless, Shao Trump is a joke who gets bodied by everyone and dies.... The end is basically NuNRS Armageddon, with the "big surprise" being ChatGPT generated characters like Sonya with Kano eye, "KOLD KAHN", and other cringe. Bad guys lose as usual with nothing done, TiTaN Havik sequel baits after end credits.

Liu Kang can't banish the souls, but he did try to make Shang Tsung live a crappy life without the glory he had in the previous reincarnation. Kronika is a titan, she can't die easily, but she lost the Hourglass, so she stayed in the shadows and will cause chaos again. By showing Shang Tsung his "true potential", for example.
