Dude SF6 has modern control scheme for ultra casuals. You press forward to do a 65-hit super combo.
Also the haters can say what they want but I have always enjoyed the impact that MK games have compared to many other games and I feel people over exaggerate the "stiff" animations of newer MK games. In the gameplay trailer you can't tell me the Kenshi gameplay and especially the Lui Kang gameplay looked "stiff". Its looked very smooth and stylish coming from the very grounded and slower pace of MK11.
I clearly have MK bias because its my favorite FG franchise, but to me my biggest turn off for SF6 is it has boring/bland characters compared to MK. SF also has boring lore/character backgrounds, while MK is probably the best and most well known of all the FGs (with tekken close to it).
Not all new MK characters are a hit (like many 3D era MK characters), but most mainstream MK characters have much more going for them then SF characters and are integreal to the main plot of the games/timeline.
Even KOF, another franchise I like better then SF, has much deeper/interesting characters then SF. With SF6 the new characters to me are GARBAGE (hot take i know).
- Yung and Yang have been replaced with Jamie lol.
- T Hawk has been replaced with a little girl.
- Kimberly was a replacement for the OG ninja Guy (she is also a very played out stereotype for black characters).
- Marisa is just a strongman with boobs.
Overall the new characters of SF6 are just very uninteresting and try way too hard to be unique imo.
The one thing I can give to SF6 is the gameplay does in-fact look good, animations look good, I love the details the RE engine provides (muscle flex, sweat, realistic fat jiggle...etc) the world warriors were done well along with their classic costumes,...etc. There are many good things I can say about SF6 but the biggest thing that makes me play fighting games is CHARACTERS, and are lacking in SF6.
Also ONLY 16 characters at launch for SF6? KOF14, Tekken8, MK1, all had/will have a much bigger roster at launch, so whats the excuse for SF?
Tekken 8's closed network test (basically beta) has 16 characters and its release date is not even confirmed yet so it's very far off. I would guess it's early 2024. Tekken has had a strong roster in its fighting games since the PS2 games though.
SF6 does look great, but SF4 and SF5 had weird art styles so it's easier to notice the improvement.
Oh my bad thanks for the correction, and yeah Tekken having a beta with 16 characters is crazy lol. I don't even think T8 has a release date, yet it has 16 characters and I assume much more to come.
So basically, expect "a lot more" than 18
Ouch even taking a jab at SF6 lol. SF has always been they type of games where they release with a barebones roster and by the time the super extra ultra deluxe edition comes out there will be twice as many characters then before.
I prefer a decent roster at launch then making it small just to build it up over time.
