You got it backwards, MK1 Raiden actually looks like a kung fu master, the old design was literally chef boyardee.

Raiden is not supposed to be a kung fu master, he is supposed to look and be the damn god of thunder, defender of Earth Realm. Obviously they decided to change him into a, well whatever he is supposed to be. It was untinkable to have a white, stoic man that shared wisdom, lead other people and instructed them.

How in the world does he look the part? Because he is Asian? Perhaps that translate to a certain degree into kung fu but the rest? You have quite the low standards me thinks.
