Tanya... threads going too far.

I'm not here to yell "woke", "SJW", etc. I just think Netherrealm forgets that a character is more than a name, skin colour and outfit colour. These are the only things old and new Tanya have in common. Old Tanya looked Egyptian, had glowing eyes, moved like an acrobat and was a cold psycho. New Tanya looks Kenyan, eyes don't glow, is a sorceress and seems caring emotional, not evil.

If Netherrealm had just introduced her as a new character with her own name, I think people would like her. But to replace the old Tanya they knew we liked? Unnecessary, it only brought division and arguments.

Some people overreact though. On one side, some use criticism as excuse to vent inner... feelings and say nasty things, literally racism. On the other side, some call anyone who has a polite criticism a racist, and that's not fair. So let's avoid extremes.

I've seen your thread, that's why I said "stop saying that". It does not prove anything, since Jade has some sort of role in the story, and still has a slight chance to appear as a playable character(on either of the two unknown spots). You can paint many females into different colors, and they may look like a female character of that particular color(as with males - dip Kuai Liang into blue, and there is Bi-Han). Kitana's outfit is also similar to that, and boots are pretty much universal. It doesn't really matter if I see it or not, it's still not 1:1 design, and the imposed qualities are pure speculations. The staff isn't really there, even her MKX naginata was closer to being a "Jade weapon" than this thing. Some of her moves are still in place, like low spin kick and teleport, for example. Her role has been changed in accordance with Liu Kang's new vision, but can still change, like Bi-Han's, Mileena's, Shao's, etc.
So yeah, not really. Unless proven otherwise with some definitive proof and facts. And if it does at some point, the sheer fact that they lazed the character in this manner is gonna be absolutely ridiculous.

When Kitana had Mileena's stuff in 11 she still had her fans, and otherwise looked and felt like Kitana. Bi Han is Sub-Zero now but he is still shown as being more ambitious and colder than his brother, which are elements he also had previously. It's a fair point about the boots but personally I think there's way too much similarity between them to be dismissed as coincidence, where there is hardly any with Tanya's from Deception. I just flat don't agree with your assertion about the staff. I don't have a written confession signed in blood, but this thread was started be a guy saying "this character isn't Tanya for me". I don't think there would be half as much controversy if there weren't some kind of shenanigans.

It's like you didn't even read some of my comment. When I talked about palette swap, I didn't say anything about feeling or personality(which I went over later), just looks.
Her staff in Deception has pointy tips and she even cuts her opponent in half(just like naginata) in one of her fatalities. Jade had fans in mk2 and in mk9(as a sectet kombatant, after Shang Tsung, I think), yet she was still Jade. Tanya in mk1 does not really have any similarities with Jade in her gameplay, apart from, maybe, one overhead, and that's it(If you've noticed more Jade'ish moves, feel free to point them out).
"This character isn't Tanya for me" - she "isn't" for any normal mk fan, but, as sad as it is, she's Tanya nonetheless. You can agree or disagree with me, but I kinda went over some facts, and your theory is just a thery, without any concrete weight under it. We're probably going to see Jade in some shape or form in the game, and she might even look similar to Tanya, who knows? But, as I said earlier, if Tanya is really a lazy revision of an early Jade role, that's going to be ludicrous.

Doesn't anyone interested? On Friday, at EVO. There is an unreliable leak about "Outworld Army trainer", with Shao, Reiko, Reptile, kameo Motaro, narrated by Shang Tsung, which overall sounds pretty reasonable and cohesive, but it originated on 4chan.

I'm really hoping to see at least one Shokan on the main roster, even this 3/4 Goro would make me happy ( tho i think ,after X Goro and 11 Sheeva, its time to bring Kintaro back)
