People always come up with the "argument", why do we care if a character looks like that, it's just a game. Well, if it's just a game then why do I wanna pay, so I have to look at ugly people? Makes no sense.
Considering the nature of fighting games, they're expecting you to not notice since in real matches everything becomes more of a blur of special effects, so you won't notice the faces as often. In other words, they're banking on people who care so much for the gameplay they won't care how ugly the characters are, because they won't even pay attention to that part of the game.
Also, I should have said this yesterday, but:
Calm down white knight.
Sir, you're not helping your argument.
Are you seriously suggesting that politicians have anything to do with character designs in a video game? I'm dumbfounded.
Also, not that this matters because NONE OF THIS MATTERS IN THE SLIGHTEST, but the characters aren't even ugly! You don't have to personally find them attractive, but everyone has preferences! Yours aren't universal! Get over it and grow up!
You are prob one of those Twitter fanatics who bashed the new Final Fantasy, cause the women looked good.
