Why do they call it MK "1?"
It's not mortal kombat 1. Why do companies do this? There is already a MK 1 and it came out in 1992. Why do companies seem to be confused about the sequential ordering of things? They're trying to "rebrand" it or whatever, i get it. But that's dumb. Who and why did they call it "1?" Sources?

They want to confuse people's conversations and turn them into babel-talk.
Just Ed boon being Ed boon! Too many resets in the storyline just to erase plotholes. So what we know from 1992 to the present Mortal Kombats never a happened! Might as well have Doctor Who, Doc Brown, Buzz, Marty Mcfly, and the dolorean be in the character roster. Too many breaks in the space time continuum.
Doctor Who would be nice.

lui kang reset time literally so it makes sense to call it mk1, yall rlly mad abt the name
There was no Mortal Kombat 1 , the first game is Mortal Kombat.

Then there is Mortal Kombat II.

Since the timeline was reset, this game is a alternate universe alongside Mortal Kombat, so calling it MK1 makes perfect sense.
^No it doesn't, it's just typical brand naming. They could have easily called it "Mortal Kombat: The New Era" or something distinct, but they instead called it "1" which has already confused several people in the community. It's just their excuse to make a another reboot, but it's still a bad name.
Because one of them suits thought it was a smart move to erase a 1.
nah the new era sounds lame, #1 means the best.
Because it's Liu Kang's New Era.
It’s self-explanatory, you don’t need someone to explain it to you.

This is exactly why it makes the name more confusing. There was nothing wrong with calling the games Deception, Armageddon. Their marketing team could have used a more hype name.

They wanted to infuriate you, and bait you into posting something like this complain train right here.

They succeeded.

Ahn, 2011 reboot was already called "Mortal Kombat" so I think WB Games got very unconfortable into naming their 2nd reboot "Mortal Kombat" a third time. Hence, "Mortal Kombat 1".
Problem is how the titles of the sequels will be called: "Mortal Kombat 2", "3", "4", so on? No idea, obviously, but I think it would have been better to use a subtitle instead of a number, example: "Mortal Kombat: Rebirth"

Mortal Kombat: Kameo
It's pretty simple in Mortal Kombat 11 Kronika erased the whole timeline.
So Liu Kang merges with Raiden to become a Fire God who then defeats Kronika.
With the timeline erased Fire God Liu Kang creates a alternate new timeline in which the events of old Mortal Kombat takes place, but not everything is the same like Sub-Zero and Scorpion are brothers, it's kinda like a alternate universe.
That's why it's called Mortal Kombat 1 cuz it's a spin-off reboot of Mortal Kombat after what happened in MK 11.
Also there is no game called MK 1, MK came out in 1992 not MK1.
Naming it MK 1 makes a lot of sense if you ask me.
