The most difficult zone with random encounters suggests level 55 and with all available perk/accessory Exp. bonuses, you're looking at ~1500-2000 (give or take) exp per encounter there. Getting from level 71-72 requires around 60k experience (roughly 40 encounters) and it quickly gets worse from there.
There are specific farming methods involving some reliance on RNG which offer a decent chance of speeding that up but most people aren't going to bother with that.
Anyway, the TLDR answer to your actual question is 'no'. The end-game in OT2 has roughly the same expectations as the first and there really isn't much compelling reason to reach level 99 unless you've set a personal goal to do it.
Idk if Im just not mixing my classes and traits well enough or what, but I cant seem to do enough damage to anything. Just like that one side quest in the high level forest. It has actually made me hesitant to start in on 2.
When you've found one, try to get X100 EXP with Alrond. If yes gg you win 230 000+ xp, If not, reload your save and try again.
Don't forget to fight by night (Life un the shadows), with More rare monster hunter's skill and all +xp +jp + leaves skills and trinkets, take the forbidden shield and the alluring ribbon for more encounters. Run fights until you find a cait.
