What order to do things?
I know you can do things however you like, but i remember people not advising you to get all characters quickly in the first as the difficulty scaled up and got quite bad. Is it the same here? Or do you run around gathering people first or do some chapters to level up a few before you unlock others? wish these games didn't have hidden traps

You can kind of do whatever you want. It is a lot easier to power up early due to how many more NPCs there and extra side dungeons and side bosses, but they also squeezed in an extra chapter for each character (or maybe half a chapter) so the power curve is slightly shallower.

"Level up" is a bad term because Level is like the least meaningful of the four different ways to generally become more powerful.

I went around and got them all before moving on to chapter 2's... no challenge and having all the skills available allows you to get the most out of your travels (ie stealing/mugging in cities for stronger equipment, more money resources etc).

I'd say it also depends on how you feel going about. I started with Ochette and grabbed the fairy to both continents to get a city to fast travel too. I've currently mostly concentrated on the eastern continent because I wanted Throné.

I found some optional places but the levels are much too high to go into them so not sure about that comment. Maybe the west is different...

In terms of characters, I have 5 and am currently (levels 17-22) doing some chapter 2's as I go... or I'll explore a couple maps. I assume with the day/night differences in NPCs that there are some missables as well.

talking from my blind play (and early play, my team max level is 25) I feel like in the enemy level play a big role in scaling its damage..(I get some gear with 150 atk/magic atk)
it doesn't matter what gear you have in level10, level20 enemy can make the fight as hell...and level30 enemy nearly one shot you
are you talking about scenario of end game level ?
