Creepiest area? *SPOILERS*
I noticed that unlike its predecessor, Octopath Traveler 2 likes to dabble in the horror element in certain parts of the game. To that end, I know three areas that are legitimately creepy, and here is how I rank them:

3. House Wellows Manor had NOPE written all over it for me at first, but looking back, I think it may of been trying a bit too hard. Was effective for me upon first visiting though and I appreciate the lore you can uncover about the place. Though like many others, I do wish there was a boss fight and not just tough enemy mobs.

2. Abandoned Village/Healeaks I first entered way earlier than I was initially supposed to, and sure while it may be more sad than creepy, it is a pretty effective area. When you first enter that place, it makes you ask yourself "what happened here?" And the answer, is utterly horrifying. All I can say is, RIP the townsfolk, Malaya, and all of Castti's other friends.

1. Lostseed. When watching people find this area on Youtube without any commentary, I initially thought this place was moderately creepy, but this place had the opposite effect that House Wellows Manor did for me and now I am like, yeah no, this place is ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up. And all we know about this city is that its the birthplace of many of Claude's children. And the few NPCs you find there seem utterly broken. It isn't scary like House Wellows Manor tries to be, but the implications this place has, is what makes it terrifying.

An interesting thing I noticed about Lostseed: Most of the NPCS are referred to as "Broken Vessel", but the one on top of the tower is a Pure Vessel.

And he is probably one of the more normal ones too.

The vessels might actually not be Claudes children. The first one you encounter is in possession of an artifact that is suppose to be owned by the leader of the thieves guild, but he went missing. So the vessels might just be random individuals that became mentally broken by Claude.

That may be true. I still find the place to be the most disturbing area in the game.

Another thing to mention, you have to wonder how many people were mentally broken as you say, by Claude? One of which, Trousseau, went on to become a genocidal maniac. Father/Sebastian was probably driven insane by him via heartbreak (Mother likely knew of him but its unknown if she ever actually met him), and after reading Oboro's letter, I think Claude also broke him and perhaps Ori as well. Thankfully the latter was able to see some hope in humanity in the form of Partitio and hopefully went on to live another dawn.
