I feel you bro. I finished the first one almost 100%. But got so burned out from the grind that I only did 6/8 of the stories. I wanted to go back and 100% it but it's leaving Game Pass PC tomorrow lmao...

Not really, no. like most of Square's games, there's no continuity between games: everything is new, no playing the previous games NEEDED. there may be a FEW easter eggs reffering to the original, but that's IT.
