Yeah unfortunately I never played the first :(. Thought about getting it recently but decided to wait for the 2nd.
Interesting? Yes.
As much as I hate when people compare everything to Persona, I think it helps to paint a better picture when using it as a comparison. Both games are not really that difficult and the combat encounters are all about finding out and exploiting the weakness of the enemies. It creates for an addicting gameplay loop.
Each character having their own unique mechanic I think adds a whole lot interesting elements to the gameplay. For instance you have Castti who is an Apothecary. They are able to concot spells mid-combat which can be super interesting. Normally these require ingredients, but Castti has a unique ability where once her power gauge is full, she can freely concot anything she wants at no cost.
