Gorgeous looking graphics too (2D-HD) and world/town design,
its so ridiculous overpriced, i would consider this as abusive or even scam.
get an old final fantasy. it will offer a "real" retro look, the same turn-based gameplay, is basically free and will be a "true aaa experience". xenoblade is also great and contains nintendo quality.
octopath is more like a little indi game, cannibalized by a big publisher.
And FF doesn't play like this game, nice try.
More over, the soundtrack is amazing, there is a lot of content, and it's mostly like the first Octopath, retaining its direction but improving upon every single aspect.
So yes, it is absolutly worth it for me.
For you? As a newcomer to the series that hasn't played the first one, is a bit cautious around grindy JRPGs, and most importantly, asked the question in the first place : wait for a sale. Don't go blind if you have a doubt, do your due diligence, check a lot of different reviews, both good and bad, and in any case, wait for a sale. Videogames are not fresh food, they don't go bad the longer you wait. You got time. The longer you wait, the more reviews you'll have, the more you'll have games to choose between, and you'll eventually get a sale or a low price on another site.
In other words, only pay full price if you already know it will be worth it. You asked the question, so for you it's most likely not the case, and I recommand you to be patient.
Seriously how do some people get this so wrong?
I also took that as not grindy since it never said the amount of time that took.
Like in Hogwarts if you bought the special edition you could be level 19 before having done 2 main missions.
just saying that you're level 16 doesn't say much, if you had said "I'm lvl 16 after 10 hours and I'm only at the second mission cause I can't beat the fight yet"
Dont listen to this take. It might not be elden ring. But comparing the price to gta. Is like comparing it to call of duty or battlefield. The games are just copy and pastes from each other
But its definitely worth it. I bought the first one twice (before it was on pc i had it on switch) octopath is way better than half these unfinished, unoptimized AAA titles. (Example. Hogwarts legacy and wildhearts release optimization were bad) the only people having trouble with the optimization so far is steam deck users.
On the bright side you get a full gane with 50-100 hours of stuff to do depending how fast you are. And if its anything like octopath 1, we wont have $90 of dlc to finish the story. Its compete
