I think Dustin is right - it can be a grind. At the very least, I have to grind for materials for weapons and armor. Hunts can do a good job of leveling characters, but it's a marathon game and getting someone to 100 will take a long time. My highest is a 93 right now.

lol ? We do the same in every single Solo offline RPG.

- Actually, i play Every Day at Octopath Traveler I, Wild-Hearts, and Final Fantasy Thethrytm.
- Actually i earn many thing in those games.
- Actually i play Storie on those games.

Huh.. there's was a third game that existed!?!
Daaamn, atleast according to this thread it was some Gacha, grindy lootbox thing so I apparently didn't miss much. But still, that's super interesting.. guess actually advertising this thing's existence was outside of their budget..? Jeez.

In CoTC's defense, it's probably one of the least grindy gatcha games out their and the most well done.

But it is STILL a gatcha game with a huge grind (just better than other gatchas), regardless of what Mr GaYmer likes to declare.

Obviously. That was the entire point of my post - that this game probably isn't even known by core, non mobile gamers most likely :/

Shame I'm only hearing about it now after 2 is released, wouldn't have minded checking it out - but after hearing that Octo 2 is 70-100hrs long I don't think I'll have the spare time these days. Ah well.

Fair enough, yeah I have to admit things like that FF7 Ever Crisis is actually looking super up my alley also and is on my 2023 want-list, just don't know how aggressive the monetization for things like this will be 😅

I disagree due to my vendetta against F2P games as they must always have microtransactions as a rule of thumb (or games that you pay upfront and STILL somehow have microtransactions). Haven't played it, but one thing that COTC is probably worse when it comes to both games is the OST. I heard the game overuses "Daughter of a Dark God." While a great final boss track, even I would get sick of it after hearing it over and over again. Kinda like how people got sick of hearing "Let It Go" from Frozen since you heard it everywhere when that movie was still fresh. Although "Daughter of a Dark God" is infinitely better than that song imo.

I've played CotC completely free and I gotta say OT2 blows it out of the water. It's not even a contest. CotC definitely does have some higher difficulty spikes but that's only because it's pressuring you to purchase better units. The fact that progression is tied to dailies is automatically just garbage imo and makes you feel bad for not playing for a day.
