OT2 Demo: Steam Deck vs. Switch Oled
Played Thief character on both beginning with Switch - planning to buy on Switch as it's more portable. But the Deck experience was miles ahead.
Bloom out of control on Oled even at standard (not vivid) settings and character models are sadly really muddy. Deck was much crisper with a wider camera - might be a resolution limitation on Switch handheld. But unfortunately, it's dramatic enough that Nintendo's machine is going to lose out. Kind of a bummer, because I don't travel with the deck. But the difference is too great.

If anyone has suggestions as to optimizing Switch Oled to more closely match - I'm all ears. THANKS.

i mean switch oled is gonna be 720/30, imagine the deck can push this at 800p/60

i would say buy it on Steam... its PC... it should for the most part always be the better product..

I feel like games such as these are better played with handheld consoles, if you don't mind the graphics. They feel cosy

Will be playing handheld (agree on cozy). But it will be Steam Deck or Switch. Not really worried about FPS, but Switch is just really soft for some reason. I’d bet it’s running at like 540p rather than 720 🤷‍♂️.

Yer first game was 576p in handheld.

Steam is a no-brainer, since it can be carried to different platforms.
Switch/Nintendo online unfortunately doesn't come that far yet.

If Sony tries to integrate with Steam so I can play Steam games with a PS5.

Switch has that instant stop/resume feature though

You mean sleep mode? Steam Deck has that too.

Steam deck for me. Higher res and 60fps. No contest really. It's not as portable sure, but it outperforms Switch in every way. Plus, if you have a laptop or desktop PC you will be able to continue you game when not using your Deck. Can't really think of any reason to get the Switch version if you have a Deck. Other than for slightly better portability, at the expense of performance.

So does the Deck.

Man, if later Valve make a Steam Deck with an OLED panel, that might be the dream portable machine for me.

Yes! I'd love a Deck with an OLED. I love my Deck but the screen is definitely its weakest part.

Does the PC version have DRM? Prefer to buy Switch version and emulate to own a DRM Free copy. If not I will buy the PC version.
Melodia Feb 14, 2023 @ 2:19pm
Switch is also DRM, as all consoles are.

I have a hackable Switch so I can bypass this pseudo DRM legally
