Is there any reason not to pick Osvald as your first character?

I picked Hikari. It felt like that was the main one to start with to me and appealed to me more. Also, damn he is OP!! I can one shot most enemies. His counter attack is absolutely insane

I was wondering who to play first. Mostly because Cyrus helped me get all the achievements for Steam for OT1. I wonder if the Study Foe thing will also be necessary for an achievement early on - but who knows what the Steam achievements will be?

agree with you, but osvald is definitely more efficient if u r aiming for achievements/perfect gameplay

i hadnt played him much in the demo so i wasnt sure if he had it, but yea thats a core skill for a game with unskippable random encounters

I like his settings being a samurai in a yamato style country (well basically medieval Japan irl), but tbh i was expecting his max boost skill animation to be different, rather than just changing camera perspective with added sfx and bgm, maybe his japanese sword skill can feature anime like movements, thatd be cool

im pretty sure ot2 will have most of the achievements from ot1, including all foe weaknesses, all chests, all hidden items, clear time challenge etc, so osvald is definitely a core member that you should prioritize getting early to make this less tedious

You can actually see the support skills of every class before you unlock them now just by hovering over it. Osvald gives more xp after every battle for his 3rd skill. So its a must for early game for sure.

i didnt play the demo that much so idk abt that, but that's very helpful

Ofc there is, if you don't wanna pick him first... It really is that simple lol.

Does picking another character mean no Osvald? Well no. Does it really affect the game in the long run? Well no. Take the first one for example, Cyrus is obviously the strongest first pick (well so people say but I disagree...) but that literally lasts for only chapter 1. If you pick anyone else you have Cyrus if you wanna use him regardless.

It aint like "oh no... I picked Therion I guess no AoE for me forever" lol

Not done the demo and won't play it till full release but if it's anything like the first game the first character always gets the easiest first boss anyway coz the game doesn't yet scale them for multiple people.

Am going Partitio simply because he's cool as hell.

It literally makes no difference who you pick. Oh you got Osvald with that stuff? Yeah well so will I and everyone else lol.

and for this reason it'd be cool if she can capture unlimited monsters unlike ot1 where i have to use mod to do that

Personally i'll only start with Osvald if the achievement to find all weaknesses makes a return, if not then i really enjoyed both Ochette and Hikari in the demo and will start with one of them. Hunter and Swordsman seem like the blue mages of this game, capturing monsters and stealing enemy abilities is so fun.
