This review is written by someone who played a 1000+ hours into the total war franchise.

Three kingdoms is almost 6 years old. And had a weird start the game was not bad at release but it didn't stand out. With the first dlc coming out the community wasn't happy. But the devs worked hard on the game so that the next dlc's would be a great improvement on the first one. And they did the dlc's after were all received higher then the previous one. My personal fav being the furious wild, like who doesn't like stomping on people with elephants.

The game overal did wel and was a lot of fun and seeing the community around this game grow is always amazing to see. The last few years the game has been going steady with around 10k player peaks each month.

Now to the game it self. The game has many factions to choose from and even more leaders in those factions. Every leader brings something to the table to help you out. The game gives you many ways to play and you can even make it harder for your self if you like a challenge. Further more each faction has their own troops only they can deploy. But the fun thing is the more you conquer and the more generals you defeat you can end up with all sort of troops. When I choose the wilderniss campain i even ended up with catapult troops haha.

You have a lot of options how you play your game my personal fav is just winning by conquering everything. But if you want a more peaceful campain you can! The game has something for every total war fan. Specially now that the game is a couple of years old and balanced its def a great catch.

On an extra note its also great if you like history you get to know a lot of historical figure's you would have otherwise never known. As a history student my self I loved that about this game and most total war games. This game even helped me to get to know some figures I didn't even know. It helped me with picking a minor into China and its history.
