Even so, for me personally I can get into a violent game, and I can get into a sexy game, but I'm not really interested in mixing the two...so this distinction is relevant to me (and I'm also glad that the dev recognized that it was a worthwhile distinction to make as well, although it's unfortunate that they didn't include all such encounters).
* It's hard to really say what a "good game" is, but I guess the best quick way is to just say "a game you would still give a thumbs-up review to if all the sexy elements were removed".
** At least in "western culture", we usually forget that violence also comes under the "NSFW" banner, although we've decided that violence has to be much more extreme to qualify for filtering. Having said that, in this context I think it's reasonable to acknowledge that we're specifically talking about this game's erotic aspects, and not the violence of the combat, when we say "NSFW".
I mean, at the end of the day, you could certainly argue that mowing someone down with a machine gun (not necessarily this game, just in general) is blatantly non-consensual violence, but for this kind of content...it's just different. I don't really want a game that forces that in my library, but more importantly I don't really want to play a game that forces that.
Thanks for taking the time to (further) clarify! To me this is at least as much about advancing the medium in general as it is about any particular game specifically, so whether I eventually pick this one up or not it's nice to know.
No worries! But yeah like the closest thing I can think of is that there's like, a spell to deliberately induce lust (best way to build sin in this game is by having sex, who'd guess? 😆) and I think some weapons might have effects for it too but again, while it may be magically induced horniness, there's still consent. I just get frustrated when games like this and FlipWitch vaguely say there's noncon when like you and I can tell what they think is just plain isn't lol. If they're going to make those claims they need to be less vague about what those scenes entail. I'm not into rape fantasies and it's really gross that the porn game industry just assumes most people are. Certainly not the only issue with things but it's definitely one of the largest ones in the industry.
