The full game has a TON of mechanics that are not seen anywhere in Celeste. Also the movement mechanics are totally different than Celeste, and there's nothing wrong with a game being inspired by Celeste. Celeste is inspired by several games that came before it. There's literally nothing plagiarized here, in fact the word "plagiarized" doesn't even make sense in this context, all of the writing in the game is completely original and shares no comparison whatsoever to the story in Celeste. It's clear that the movement mechanics are unique, the jump feels nothing like the jump in Celeste, there's no dashing, and no climbing. Double jumping and hovering (both of which are not in Celeste), feel nothing like Celeste gameplay. There are some homages to Celeste, and the pixel art style, specifically the tiles are similar in artistic quality to Celeste, but Celeste doesn't own pixel art and animation.
To call this game a ripoff or mod of Celeste is just plain wrong. Celeste doesn't just get to own an entire genre that it didn't even invent. Celeste is a great game, and so is this one.
You actually have a point, but I still stand for the fact that it's taking "way too much". It's clear that the developers of Germinal attempted to make a similar game and despite it being able to hide behind a new story (I think it's referring to the Covid-19 pandemics), new music and own graphics, it simply can't hide from everything. I learned about Germinal in one YouTube video which called it out for being a completely stolen game, maybe I was simply... influented by the video, leading me to believe that it is a theft. I must admit that I went too far when I said it was a plaguarized copy of Celeste, I personally had some fun playing. But still - there are things, like I said, from which Germinal can't hide.
bro, its a platformer. Celeste didn't "invent" almost anything. wavedashing is from super smash bros, being able to stick to a wall or hold onto it is not that insane of a concept, double jumping and dashing is found in 100s of platformers. Im gonna go out on a limb and say you have probably not played many platformers if you genuinely think this game "stole" from celeste. Celeste is a very good game, but it's not the second coming of christ, and it doesnt own a copyright on basic game mechanics.
"This should be a mod instead of a full release game" literally why though lmao? What difference does it make?
