The game has all kinds of custom settings for the difficulty. I just bought today and started into it. So I am glad for them. As I like a challenge, but nothing outrageous also.
Well that is certainly a plus, thankyou..
As Phoenix said various things can be adjusted to your playstyle.
I have played more than a few survival games, but dome are just too difficult or extreme for me. Partly, I think, because some are primarily made for multi or co-op play and I only play single player.
So yes, the early stages are normally always harder but some stay that way. Which is why I never played Green Hell, for example. I asked this same question on that forum and was advised against it because it was very difficult...
Oh, Just FYI. I own Green Hell myself. There are settings in it also. Good game. Even solo with the right settings.
I've just bought the game and played for about 5 hours. So far, nothing too outrageous as happened. Moved off the starting Island and onto the 1st main Island. Opened up quite a bit of it so far and progressing nicely. There is plenty of food and water outlets to keep you going and you can also craft plenty of medicine to stave off the statuses.
As long as you know where things are that you need and what to watch out for, then it's quite a different take on most of the survival games I've played. I tend to steer away from survival games that have the food, water, stamina bars, however, I have to say that this one is pleasantly surprising and easy to play.
Oh, I'm playing on normal difficulty.
The game does have a story to tell to help move things along, but it's nothing to write home about. It gets the job done. So, to answer your question. I think this game falls in the middle of the "difficulty" setting. It's not so easy that you will get bored with it (in my opinion) and it's not so difficult that you want to rage quit.
Hope this helps.
I didn't know that it had settings as well, thanks...
So your saying this does NOT have food, water, stamina etc..? So what "status's" are you referring too..?
That does help, thankyou...
This game has food, water, energy, and stamina. The number one resource overall is time. If you can allocate your time you can be successful at any difficulty.
There is enough equipment to help solve the food, water, and energy issues. Making it through the early game to make all that equipment is where that balancing of time comes in.
Yeah, I just started watching a walkthru vid. 3 hours to dismantle a wooden box, 2.5 hours to harvest 3 fruit... seriously..? That's crazy..
It does and normally that would put me off a survival game. However, they are not as harsh as most games that have this mechanic and it's easily manageable. I've just now got into the 2nd map of Islands and I have to say that I am really enjoying the game. :)
