You have to dismantle crafting stations to move them to the Ark?
I tried to bring my improved workbench from my base to the Ark. It wouldn't let me place it anywhere and I can't open the doors to the lower level while trying to move a workbench. I assume the only place you can have crafting stations is in the lower level of the Ark. The layout of the Ark is very confusing and the inside doesn't match the outside. When you enter the lower level it extends way further than the front of the ship allows when viewing it from the outside. Makes it confusing to figure out which part of the ship you are in.

I just tried dismantling the workbench and it gave me most of the resources back except for a few long sticks. Moving all the crafting stations could prove to be resource hungry. I was going to load everything on the Ark and move my base from in front of the Grotto to the inlet where everyone builds but maybe not.

Overall the amount of resources you may lose is trivial. I didn't think you lost anything deconstructing something but maybe I am wrong.
The ark is ultimately very handy as a base but with fast travel it's not exactly vital.
Just remember that you can build a top floor and walls to make it look more homely and to get more room with better attachment points for things on your walls.

It says you can lose some resources before you deconstruct. I wouldn't mind losing a few long sticks but I don't want to lose anything like iron ingots.

If it says that then so be it. I tore all mine apart and moved into the ARK and had no problems. I don't consider the loss to be that much at all.

Once I decked out my ARK I didn't need a land base again so ultimately it's a one time loss and I really don't even think I noticed or cared about any loss. If I had to do it more often then I might get a bit bent out of shape but not just once and the convenience of a mobile base was worth it to me.
