What are the tiers of armor?

I can't find any guides on the hierarchy of armor. I currently have animal hide armor that is about to break. I am on copper island. I know there is leather armor and some sort of seaweed armor. From what I have read the seaweed armor can be skipped. Is there an armor made with copper? Is there anything between leather and iron armor?

Edit: I found a chart on techraptor. It looks like it goes from leather to linen to copper plated. Since I'm already on copper island what would be the point of linen armor? I read a guide that is probably outdated that said you can harvest the sails from the ship when you first arrive in the buffalo region. I found no such resources. Copper plated armor is crafted from leather armor and has a decent armor rating.

It looks like each piece of leather takes 10 clean water. Sounds like this would be the right time to fast travel back to hope island since I have about 500 water stored there.

Crafting a full set of seaweed armor gives you a point though, so it is worth it to craft if you can.

There is copper plated armor that requires the leather set already crafted. There is Conquistador armor (iron plated) that requires the linen set already crafted. I mean already crafted because it is used in the recipe. There is a special Hunter armor that you can get too. You can find the recipe for each item on one of the islands, I think it is the Sulfur or Silver Islands. This set can make you less noticeable to animals and reduces stamina cost. It only protects you from sun and rain and doesn't say it gives an armor rating. I haven't made this one yet.

For as far as I can see the "tier" can be achieved by looking at your crafting menu.
The armor sets are displayed on the order they rank up starting at the leaves armor and then gradualy going up.
Do notice there is also a seaweed armor type that comes before the linen armor and the linen armor is basicly just cloth you need to craft the iron armor. It is the lining of the iron items.

There is an Island with enough Flax to harvest to craft all the linen and even have some linen left after crating you can use to create the linen bed. So there is more to find then a pouch with flax seeds.

Also be aware that the leather armor has a special feature with the sulfur mask. If you create the leather head armor you can combine that with the sulfur mask to be protected for sulfur and maleria. Kinda a special thingy.

Then there is a chest in one of the sunken ships that will provide the navi chest piece. (the red chest piece you are able to choose when you leave the ship before it goes down at the start of the game but that most of us leave behind in favor of tools).

And keep thinking when it comes to the diving mask. There is a upgraded version of that available to. (you gotta figure that one out. I am not telling)

So you have a fair ammound of options to choose from armor whise

Good info. I don't think I will have time to craft leather armor before my hide armor breaks. I will probably just fast travel back to hope island and craft a set of leaf armor while I'm drying hides for the leather armor. I need to dump off a ton of stuff out of the canoe storage box. I brought too much with me. LOL

I managed to craft another improved tanner at the grotto and craft enough pieces of leather to make the leather armor and a new leather backpack. Having the extra capacity in the leather backpack is a must. Now back to the copper island to mine more copper so I can craft the copper plates for the leather armor.

He is right, (got one myself). But you gotta fight a crocodile to get that leather piece xd.
You can find those at the Sulfur Island. Good hunting.
