Do random pieces of clay and obsidian replenish over time?

I went back to the water source on Hope Island and there were a few pieces of clay on the ground. I'm not positive, but I could swear I picked them all up the first time I was there.

Whether they do or not, where can I find more on Hope Island? Anywhere besides the water source?

They do not respawn, and there are only two locations they show up on Hope island - the two water reservoirs. I believe there are are a total of 12 pieces, 6 at each reservoir. You possibly left some behind because they are *heavy* and it's hard to haul all of them back.

You'll get plenty more on the next big island, where they have to be gathered from a mine/mound, but will respawn.

Something I haven't figured out, the drawing on the map and in the grotto show 2 water sources on the island. My map is fully mapped out and it only shows one? The one that is more to the south.

On copper island is a clay deposite that respawns over time. So far the only one I found.
It is in the same area as the copper mine from the story line.

edit: this clay source has 17 lumbs so plenty to harvest. Bring a good shovel and a cart to move that ammount.

There are two, yes. You might not see it behind other icons - make sure to use the filters on the map to remove things to make sure you've seen everything. One is in the south middle of the map, one in the northeast.
