No mapping platform on the Ark? Disappointment

Why, having two masts, didn’t they make a mapping platform on one of them? After all, on such ships there was a platform for the “lookout,” the so-called “Crow's Nest.”

Yeah I was very suprised they didn't add this to the Ark, or the Stormbreaker. The Ark has a platform (crows nest) on the mast it would be very easy just to make the rope ladder on the side interactive, click on it and it teleports you to the platform where your character is locked in place but can look around freely. Then another click on the rope ladder from there and you're teleported back down to where you started from. I am honestly unsure why they didn't add this.

The mapping platform on the schooner is a kind of its characteristic feature.
Also (which would be the main reason, actually), it would work worse with the Ark than the way it works on the Schooner since the Schooner behaves much more stable in the sea.

It would be very hard or even impossible to implement it this way in the game technically, unfortunately.

Can you give us defailt 100 m mapping radius for Ark, like we have climbed the mast?

Being able to climb on ark would be nice, but from gameplay point it is not needed any more, as ship is unlocked on end-game when propably you have already all regions mapped. Bimini is one big island with mountains (map from mountain is always better than map from crows nest) and mapping from ship is not needed (no small islands etc).
Although if any DLC or new region is planned then such functionality for Ark would be needed.

The Ark was just a huge disappointment tbh. Also, why did we get that before the stormbreaker, if it's supposed to be the best ship?

Well Stormbreaker is better imo - it has better maneuverability and its immune to collision damage. Ark is big and clumsy, but you can make a mobile base with it with all workbenches (for me unnesessary, as on end-game I already have outposts everywhere).
And schooner is best, but unfortunatelly it cannot travel to Bimini.

Actually, you can bring the Schooner to Bimimi. I built a dock there and fast traveled to the island in the Schooner
