Game Daytime Speed
Can anyone explain the New Game 'Daytime Speed' setting? Its goes from x1 to x64 - how exactly does this affect the game - seeing as game time is attached to building items. Does it mean items build in shorter amounts of time?

Hey!

x1 means that virtual time goes at the same speed as real-time.
1 real-time minute = 1 virtual time minute.

x64: 1 real-time minute = 64 virtual time minutes.

And those settings do not affect crafting/building.

That's great thank you!

Any way to adjust the speed of an existing game? I have advanced nicely in one game and wish to continue with it but want my day to be x1.

Not right now, but we'll think about implementing this in the future.

Does manually changing the info.dat's TimeStretcher property not work?

The file can be found @ C:\Users\yourusername\Downloads\Slot1\autosave_0\

I highly recommend setting the day speed at 8X. The only drawback is that resources take longer to respawn. Why they put the default at 36X is a mystery to me. Literally no time to get anything done before the day is over. Feels like they wanted you to rush through the game. I am at 8X around day 60 and still at hope island.

Sucks that you can't change the day speed after starting the game. I had to start the game over 3 times to find a speed I could live with. If I were to play again I would probably set it somewhere between 1 and 4.

Confirming this DOES work. With the caveat that the game knows your save no longer matches and it won't appear in your load screen

But the save files are not locked while the game is running. Load up the game. Go to the Load screen. Pick a save, but don't load it yet. Tab out, and edit that save file. Then load that file in game. It hiccups in the middle of loading but then finishes loading. And there's a noticeable difference

And thank you for not only suggesting this, but also showing the contents of your save file. If you use default x36, that line is not there, and I would have had no idea what to add

36 is ridiculous. I barely get out of sight of my camp and it's time to go back to my camp for nightfall. And crafting, reading, mending, cooking, sleeping are atrocious on that stetting. And I'm trying to learn everything naturally without using a wiki and haven't discovered how to make torches yet so night travel is a no-go for me anyway. I'm constantly running into snakes and angry prairie dogs. Now at least I can actually accomplish stuff in the day time and have time for crafting and experimenting

Oh thank you so much for this post. The game is so much better when time slowed down to a more reasonable pace and I really did not want to start over.

For anyone else reading this, on Windows 10 I found this file at %userprofile%\AppData\LocalLow\Odinsoft\Survival Fountain of Youth\saves\Slot1

Hi.

Are you still going to implement this, and hopefully the other "difficulty" settings that are offered before you start a game. But in-game, so we can tweak them to our personal game-play preferences.

These options are usually in other survival games. and there are some I wish I had done differently, but dont want to have to start from scratch.
and form reading others would like these options in-game as well.

Thank you.
👍🏻

+1 for sure.

As was pointed out by vykrom, the file only shows settings that are changed from default. It could also be that it only shows settings that are different from "MainDifficulty".

In any case, until the developer hopefully addresses this issue, I backed up my save and made a new game where I changed every setting in custom just so I could see what they are named.

The only setting that I've personally tested changing was TimeStretcher so as always when manipulating game files, back up your files and use at your own risk.

This would be a great quality of life implementation. Fantastic game here, and not being able to change some options after the game has begun is one of the few flaws it has.
