Currently, there is no such feature in the game, but we'll think about it!
Farming is planned for one of the future content updates.
Small palms and Chinese palms only provide narrow leaves and dry leaves which can be found elsewhere. If you harvest them before chopping the tree down they should last quite a while. If I actually do run out of palms I will probably chop down mahogany trees next.
What is it you're doing that needs so many logs?
All that said, I agree with you, there is currently no need to make gigantic houses, everything needed can actually fit inside a rather small house :)
