Could use some increased durability on items also, its pretty brutal. I mean brutal in an annoying way not something that adds "good" challenge

With 400+ hours of play, I haven't found a need for trees to respawn. We have the log carts and vessels with log transportation. It might be a slight irritation, but transporting resources from a distance is an integral part of the survival process!

Well what trees do you choose to cut down? What should I save? I been staying away from coconut trees cause they are food and drink atm

You can only cut palms, best to leave date and coconut in case you need food. Make yourself a log cart when you can and make use of the boats' log storage when out and about

Small palms and Chinese palms only provide narrow leaves and dry leaves which can be found elsewhere. If you harvest them before chopping the tree down they should last quite a while. If I actually do run out of palms I will probably chop down mahogany trees next.

I doubt you will ever run out of palms., unless you build a scale model of Bubkingham Palace or something :P

I only cut down the small palms and Chinese palms since there's plenty of other places to get the leaves. I only take enough for whatever project I'm working on at that moment. I've only completely cleared two very small areas of trees so far for three bases (one main, two smaller ones) and several docks, so I definitely have plenty more trees available if I need it.

I've been checking out the screenshot section once in a while, using it as inspiration and generally just to see what others make, there are some that are more like cities with several buildings, there are also some that are absolutely huge, and even some are tall like a skyscraper
All that said, I agree with you, there is currently no need to make gigantic houses, everything needed can actually fit inside a rather small house :)

it's been some months on this topic, but from my POV, I'd also prefer being able to re-plant/re-grow trees. I'd HATE to go all Easter-Isles and yes I do love me some shady tree-isles now and then.

I only swath cut all the small islands for trees, I never cut near my bases if I can help it. Shade is good.

I would also like for trees to grow back, so there's no worry about how many you're cutting down for logs.
